Summit Baggage Service
The final Giro Della Donna timed-climb finishes atop Lake Mountain at over 1,400m. Conditions can vary greatly at altitude, and riders also have a pro-race-style roll down to Marysville and the event village post reaching the summit. So we have a bag check system to allow you to have warmer clothes on the mountain to keep you warm on the descent back to the village. Simply check your jacket, gilet etc. in at the bag check-in desk and we will transport it to the mountain top for you to use.
Traffic management
Both the Giro Della Donna and the Gravel Giro operate under a mixed of closed road and managed open road conditions. There will be signage and crew on course to advise which sections are open and which closed. You can learn more about the road treatments here.
The open sections of road are there to facilitate access to the local community where no other access routes are easily available and will have speed reductions and event staff to help ensure safety.

In the event of a severe accident call 000.
Mechanical support
There is roving mechanical support on course, proudly provided by SRAM. And a fixed position in the event village for any needs pre event. In addition, there are multiple support points along the #GravelSector of the Acheron way on the Sunday if required. That said, riders are expected to be self-sufficient. Carry tubes, canisters/pump, tools and anything else you think you need.
Etiquette
STAY LEFT
There are some narrow sections of road and you are sharing with lots of other riders. Unless passing, please ride to the left. Remember also please that some of the Gran Fondo roads are not closed and there will be occasional non-event vehicles traveling with and against you. While traffic on these roads is minimal, it is still there.
LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER
It’s a tough ride, and keep an eye out for each other on the way. One of the things we love about cycling is the camaraderie it brings, from working a pace line to sharing water or spares.
DO NOT LITTER
We are in one of the most stunning locations you can imagine. There will be bins at each aid station and in between please put any wrappers or the like in your pockets. Let’s leave it better than we found it.
What to carry
Clothing. As the great Sean Kelly said, ‘there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing choices’. Keep an eye on weather forecasts and conditions dress accordingly. A packable rain jacket/gillet is always a good idea.
Nutrition. While there are feed stations along the course with food, with at least WINNERS nutrition and water, we recommend you carry some nutrition such as gels with you.
What kind of bike can I ride?
Riders can choose from a selection of bikes to ride in the event, including road , mountain bikes, gravel and cross bikes. e-bikes are also welcome.
Hand bikes are permitted when required due to a disability. Tandems are only permitted for vision-impaired riders, in which case only the vision impaired rider is required to register.
Bikes with tri or aero bars are not allowed.
Do I need to wear a helmet?
Yes, Australian Law, Cycling Australia and UCI regulations all mandate the use of helmets. All riders must wear an Australian Standards Certified helmet. The certification sticker must be visible inside the helmet.
